WASHERS

Liberty Fastener Washers

Our high quality washers are made with the best materials and grades available. Liberty Fastener proudly supplies a large selection of washers for every use and application.

Washer Applications

There are dozens of uses for different kinds of washers. Generally speaking, washers are used:

  • as a seat for a head or nut

  • to help disperse a load

  • to prevent leakage

  • to decrease friction

Our Selection of Washers

Liberty Fastener has two categories of washers: flat washers and lock washers.

Flat Washers

Flat washers are also called plain washers and they are used mostly for covering oversized holes and distributing a load over a large area. Liberty Fastener supplies four different kinds of flat washers:

  • USF – has a larger outer diameter (OD) and is thicker than other flat washers.

  • SAE – has a smaller, tighter OD and is a relatively thin washer.

  • Fender – has a larger OD and is used for distributing loads.

  • Machine screw – the smallest of the flat washers.

Lock Washers

Lock washers come in a few different models for various uses. They are different from flat washers because of their shape. The most common type of lock washers (split lock washers) are disconnected and one side is raised a little higher than the other. Others have sharp inner or outer edges that lock them into place.

We have three kinds of lock washers here at Liberty Fastener:

  • Split lock washer – the most common lock washer we sell comes in a variety of sizes and finishes and has a gap between two points. The load distribution is less even and they are often used with socket products.

  • Internal lock washer – this lock washer gives a clean look once assembled. It has teeth inside it to lock itself to the material or shaft, the outside is smooth.

  • External lock washer – this lock washer has the best locking feature, with the teeth on the outside to better grip the material.

Call or to order your lock washers, and remember that our full line of quality fasteners, complete with specs, is available online or in our catalog.
